The New Honda Navigation DVD For Your Dashboard GPS
If you buy a new Honda vehicle then you might opt for the added extra of having a dashboard GPS navigation device pre-built in at the factory. By paying a little bit more for the Honda GPS installed it will mean you won’t have to buy a standalone device from a manufacturer such as TomTom or Garmin.
But there is a caveat with that – because you will need to update the Honda map software annually to ensure that the GPS is always as fresh and current as possible.

Here’s how you do it:
Buying The 2012 Honda Navigation DVD
In order to update your Honda GPS then you will have to purchase the latest DVD – which is then simple to install using the disc tray that is attached to the dashboard navigation unit. Once installed, the new DVD will load in any road and network changes from the past 12 months, meaning you have the latest directions again at your fingertips.
Follow these instructions:
- Go to the official Honda Navigation store at www.navigation.com and then select the car you own from the drop-down – then select the model’s year.
- You will now see the latest Honda Navigation DVD version to suit your car so add to shopping cart and then pay securely online at the checkout.
- It will take around five days to arrive in the post, but once if does turn your car’s engine on and eject the old DVD, and insert the latest 2012 one.
- Next follow the on-screen commands that you see, which will include entering in your authentication code – which can be found on the DVD casing.
- New Honda map updates will now take around half an hour to fully install completely, at which point you are now totally up to date with the latest directions.
Why Buy The New Honda Navigation DVD?
The main reason that you should purchase a new DVD is because as soon as you drive your new Honda car from the dealer, the GPS will inevitably already be out of date. This is due to the actual map software being installed on the device – rather than being sent down via satellite which is what a lot of people seem to believe.

With every year that passes, the government develop new road networks and change layouts and priorities of highways. That includes business addresses too, and if ever driving into a strange town you might have experienced a situation where your Honda GPS doesn’t know where to go next.
Not only that, the new Honda Navi DVD also comes with millions of new and updated POI files. POIs are simply a database of Points of Interest locations which includes things like tourist attractions and useful touch-and-go places like shopping malls and ATMs. By having the latest POIs you can drive to a new place and have interesting days out with your family – all at the touch of a button.

Pretty useful post – and I do need to update my Satnav. Just a shame some of those update discs are so darn expensive or I’d update far more often.
